What's New

Paradigm Persona

August 11,2017

Understandably, we get pretty darned excited when one of our manufacturers reveals their latest-and-greatest model, or a new advancement in technology. We live and breathe this stuff, and lately there's been plenty to spin the propellers on our beanies.

But rarely does a new product stop us dead in our tracks, knock us on our rear ends and make us utter things I ought not print. The new PersonaTM Series loudspeakers from Paradigm do exactly that. Granted, Paradigm has an established legacy for outstanding performance, but PersonaTM is so clearly above and beyond that Paradigm is offering the line through only a handful of select audio-video specialists across the country. Think Mercedes Maybach.

The PersonaTM Series has been in development for five years, but reflects over 34 years of state-of-the-art design, engineering, and acoustical development. The list of exotic materials, design refinements, unique technologies and manufacturing techniques is too long to list here, but the results are simply astounding.

Fit and Finish

The first thing you notice is the lack of grilles, at least in the traditional sense. The midrange and tweeter are protected by very unique metal grilles whose perforations are arranged in a pattern reminiscent of those Spirograph designs we loved as kids. According to Paradigm, these are really “lenses” that actively block out-of-phase frequencies and help smooth output. As you get closer, the stunning premium automotive finish on the cabinets is evidence of the meticulous attention to detail in construction.

Listening Observations

Honestly, the only way we can describe these speakers is that they just disappear. Aside from the typical attributes you would expect – great bass extension, amazing detail and clarity, jaw-dropping imaging, it is just so extremely easy to forget that there is a pair of speakers in the room. Scary, frankly, but that is the Holy Grail of audio.

Conclusions

We’ve formed our opinion; we think you owe it to yourself to come listen. Let’s see if you agree!
